Kayaloram Back Waters

The resort is situated in Asia – India – Kerala State – Trivandrum – Poovar. Poovar is small coastal village in Trivandrum district of Kerala State. This village is almost at the southern tip of trivandrum while the next village Pozhiyoor marks the end of Kerala State border with Tamilnadu. The origin of the name “Poova” haas a story related to the king Marthandavarma. Before that it was “Pokkumoosapuram”. During the internal riots in Travancore and while escaping from Ettuveettil Pillamar (Lords of the Eight House), the King reached Poovar. It was a spring season and the trees on either sides of Neyyar river were full of flowers. These flowers fell into the river made it more attractive. On seeing this pleasant scenery, Marthanda Varma commented that this was Poo-var, a conjunction of the Malayalam word for “flower” and “river”.
